Every day, tonnes of untreated wood is sent to landfill — but it doesn’t have to be that way. At Goodwood, we believe woodwaste can do so much more for our communities, farms, and schools when it’s recycled instead of thrown away.

Here’s what happens when you recycle your woodwaste with us:

   1. Collection & Drop-Off

Your journey with us starts with a simple step: getting the wood to our yard. Businesses can drop off directly, or we’ll send one of our Goodwood trucks to pick it up. From broken pallets to offcuts and old timber, we take care of the wood you no longer need. (Arranging this with the Goodwood Team is easy, you’re just one call away from clearing your yard!)

   2. Sorting & Assessing

Not all woodwaste is created equal. Our team carefully sorts and checks what comes in. If a pallet can be repaired, we set it aside to be fixed up and resold. If not, it moves down the line for recycling. This step makes sure nothing usable goes to waste.

   3. Reuse: Pallets Given a Second Life

Good-quality pallets don’t go to landfill — they go back out into circulation. By repairing and reselling, we extend their life and save businesses the cost of buying new. It’s a win for both the environment and the economy.

  4. Recycling: Turning Timber into New Products

If the woodwaste can’t be reused, we give it a new purpose. Depending on its quality, the wood is chipped down and transformed into a range of products:

  • Goodfall Playground Surfacing – safe, certified playground woodchip for council playgrounds, schools and preschools.
  • Landscaping Supplies – natural and coloured options to keep outdoor spaces tidy.
  • Premium Animal Bedding – clean, kiln-dried woodchip that performs well in calf sheds.

Nothing is wasted — everything gets turned into something useful.

   5. Back to the Community

The cycle finishes where it really matters: in the community. The same wood that once sat as waste on a site is now supporting safe play at schools, keeping landscapes looking fresh, or helping farmers raise healthy calves.

Why This Matters

If timber isn’t recycled, it’s sent to landfill. That means businesses pay higher disposal costs, and the wood simply sits there — doing nothing. Recycling with Goodwood keeps costs down, reduces waste, and makes a real difference locally.

Together, We’re Closing the Loop

Goodwood operates from bases in Tauranga and Hamilton, servicing the wider Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Central North Island. With your support, we’re closing the loop on woodwaste and proving that one business’s rubbish really can become another’s resource.
