Who we are looking for
We are looking for a hard-working yard hand who is keen to learn new skills, has a can-do attitude and great organisational skills to be an integral part of our Hamilton team. Forklift and wheel-loader experience preferable and bonus if you have a class 2 truck licence. The role is based at our yard in Burbush, Hamilton.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
✓ Be involved in all aspects of our busy Hamilton yard including, but not limited to, pallet sorting and rebuilding, forklift driving, product loading, dealing with public and ensuring paperwork is completed.
✓ Liaise with the Head Office in Mt Maunganui regarding product movements and schedules.
✓ General yard maintenance in accordance with Goodwood’s systems and processes.
✓ Adherence to Site Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. The successful applicant needs to be:
✓ Fit and healthy with a reasonable level of fitness
✓ A self-starter
✓ An effective team player but capable of working alone ✓ Show initiative and be willing to learn and make a difference
✓ Ideally experienced in forklift driving
Activities include but are not limited to:
✓ Unload woodwaste that comes into the yard
✓ Remove any rubbish/debris/stones or other not acceptable material from incoming woodwaste
✓ Sort pallets into re-sellable and manufacturable wood piles
✓ Repair any pallets that could then be resold
✓ Accompany the wood waste driver on collections when required
✓ Greasing and pre-starts on machinery as required
✓ Liaise with trucking companies / drivers regarding product pick up
✓ Load trucks with product and complete necessary paperwork
✓ Support the team to ensure all fire safety measures are adhered to and maintained across the yard
✓ Support the team to maintain the yard in a tidy condition
✓ Hold team members to account to achieve our standard of excellence
